Tom Waltz is a senior editor and writer for IDW Publishing. He was the mainstay writer of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (IDW) ongoing series that launched in 2011, and penned the first 100 issues. The initial creative team on the IDW series consisted of Kevin Eastman (plot and page layouts), Tom Waltz (writer) and Dan Duncan (artist). His other TMNT credited works include the story for the video game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, After the Fire, The Last Fall, Children of the Grave, TMNT/Ghostbusters and TMNT/Ghostbusters 2.

He is a former active-duty U.S. Marine, Desert Storm vet, and former California National Guard Military Policeman. His experiences in boot camp partially influenced the naming choices of the new Ninja Turtles.[1] In an interview, Tom Waltz has stated that for him, the 2003 4Kids version of the TMNT was the most influential and the one he really enjoyed the most.[2]
